Married to Jami since 2001, three children, all in or through Ledyard Schools. Lifelong Ledyard resident. Received his formal education at Clemson University (Finance with minor in Real Estate).
Mayor Fred’s focus has been on the long-term stability of the Town and a goal of lean, efficient government while seeking ways to provide services more efficiently. He believes regionalization of some services can play a critical role in cost control. Minimizing our governmental footprint is also a priority, and to that end, the Mayor has successfully sold the Gales Ferry Landing, Ledyard Center School, and the former

police station, resulting in private ownership, commercial development, and increased tax revenue. Mayor Fred has guided the Town through three bonding cycles for the school renovation/consolidation plan and has delivered excellent results with Standard & Poors, obtaining the best long-term borrowing rates the Town could have hoped for. Additionally, Mayor Fred has fought for an equitable distribution of the so-called Pequot Fund, this year securing an additional $500,000 from the State. Mayor Fred is an effective leader who works to keep a positive workplace and works well with Town Council, Board of Ed, and other committee and commission members. Mayor Fred was also elected by his peers as the Council of Governments Secretary, one of five COG leadership roles in the COG.
